I’ve actually read good things about the Contempt blu-ray so hopefully it holds up well.

I do believe it was his first color film and it’s gorgeous in so many ways. I also read that the relationship argument scene in the apartment, which is fucking brilliantly filmed, was taken from his personal relationship with Karina which is just cool IMO.

I, too, love Godard’s CONTEMPT. I’ve actually been having a conversation with another friend about it, and that led me to purchasing the StudioCanal Blu-ray on Amazon. I hope it doesn’t suck THAT BAD because I agree with your observation of Criterion: stop dropping the damn ball, guys. Sheesh. But talking about the film made me want to see it again, and not a shitty Divx version.

And I love how there’s so much going on sub-textually in CONTEMPT. It was Godard’s first color film, right? It’s almost as if the relationship portrayed onscreen is an extension of Godard’s relationship with film. Fascinating. Love it. Can’t way to see the Blu-ray. I’ll let you know how it looks.

It wasn’t a jab at you, although, you are the only person I know that enjoyed it. I think if I could have watched it without falling asleep more than 3 times I might have liked it. But a movie putting me to sleep that much… eh…

I went to Pawn World and they did have a lot of copies of one movie………….
The Exorcist! Probably about 15 or so copies!
Sadly there wasn’t not one dvd of Mr. Mom.

Haha, you pretty much nailed it.. there is a red(rape) room that is unfinished.. I think it has a much cooler history than I do.
